"I was flying in from Bamako Mali at 2200 and had to connect to Johannesburg at 0700 the next morning and i figured by the time i caught a cab to Yoff and a hostel and back in this rather salubrious of airports i was better off staying put. I did find this site before i left and learnt that Dakar airport would not be where you would take your mum. Also running low on CFA (was about to leave for good) only had enough for a drink or two.Fortunately the pre-check in area is cordoned off so that most of the touts cannot get in, but the flight counters won't open until 2 hours before departure so I could not get into the secure zone, which only has the rock hard bucket seats. There is however a bar which allowed me to escape from the touts with all my baggage from 5 months abroad. I made my sprite last 7 hours and sat at a table with people coming and going and a variable noise level, but was able to power nap for 30 minutes.Wouldn't recommend it if you enough time to go to Yoff and sleep but if you have lots of bags it is a safe option."
