"The aeropuerto of this wonderful city, and the city of Cartagena de Indias should be on every travellers list, is a perfectly modern and easy-going airport. All the facilities you would need are there. Restaurants, shops, space. No need for sleeping there. Friendly taxi-drivers will take you safely to your hotel in the old town, or if you prefer, to Bocagrande, the Ipanema of Cartagena. No need to be afraid here, contrary to all the negative information in the press and the general volatile situation in this beautiful country. I flew in from Bogota with Avianca in a new Boeing in July 2000, and left three weeks later after having enjoyed a cool Caribbean cocktail at the Rafael Nunez airport, situated 15 minutes from the city centre."
