Manta Airport
Lasting Impressions....
"Built out of an old US military base, you feel like a Guantanamo escapee just being here. " (Noni Edwards)

Good times

We had a great time in Manabi and went to the Manta airport a few times. Everything was great and we'll be back again and again. I am shocked about 2 members negative notes, but we are humans and different:-)"

Not a bad place, but not great either

"Visiting family, we had to fly to Manta. Upon arrival, the baggage claim area is a big warehouse type room and the luggage is placed on a small counter through a garage door. Then one is expected to exit as soon as possible. When we had to leave Manta, we had to wait for security to allow us into to boarding area. But we had family with us in the ticketing area where there are a few chairs so we stayed with them as long as possible. The boarding area is small, but there were few on our flight so it was not a problem. The place was clean and beverages were available. Would I sleep here? No way and the airport closes after the last flight leaves so it is not possible."
Um, you may want to rethink sleeping in this place

"Built out of an old US military base, you feel like a Guantanamo escapee just being here. Soldiers patrol every stretch of perimeter and flickering neon lighting is reminiscent of interrogations. Mosquitoes and other small biting flies are still there but the nearby town of Montanita is too good to bypass, and the local buses are definitely worth giving a miss for long haul journeys."
