"I recently did an all-nighter at Berlin's
national/international bus station at ZOB am Funktum [Berlin-Charlottenburg:
U-Bahn Bhf. Kaiserdamm (U2) / S-Bahn: Bhf Messe-Nord / ICC] the
waiting room is open all night, 7 days a week, 365 days (??) a
year and there is an all-night security person sitting at a
booth, so it's safe. It's out-of-the-way enough so you don't get
the drunks, junkies & petty thieves that you find hanging
out at the main train stations. The security personnel do not
check tickets, but they will object if you lie horizontally on
the seats. The seating is hard plastic seats, but i managed to
get a few hours sleep. Toilets are clean (they are free at
night, but you have to pay in daytime) and there is an all night
kiosk on the premises.
Most of the other people are east europeans in transit. [there
are some great deals on long-distance bus travel departing from
this station...] In short, this makes a great and secure
alternative to staying up all night at the train station. Highly
recommended!"
