What to Expect
Santa Claus’ “official” airport, Rovaniemi Airport (code: RVN) has a small, modern terminal that handles Helsinki commuter flights as well as European routes in the busy winter season. Amenities are limited to a landside restaurant, an airside cafe, a couple souvenir shops and free WiFi. Mail a postcard from the Santa Claus Post Office for a specially stamped postmark.
Sleeping in Rovaniemi Airport
The airport closes nightly, by 12:00AM but as early as 10:30AM on certain days, so overnight stays are not possible. For uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer shuttle service. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

Rest & Relaxation Zones
The airport offers an area Airside with rocking chairs where you can relax.
Take precaution even when sleeping in the rest zones. In December 2019, a traveller at another airport reported that money and credit cards had been stolen from their bag even though the bag was right beside them. Protect and lock your bags as you would sleeping elsewhere in public.

Bus and Train
