REVIEWS Rome - Fiumicino ..... luls November, 2009 waiting chairs is the new bed I got a 6 am flight to Amsterdam so I decided to stay overnight at the airport.I arrived on 11 PM so there were not many people there and no stores are open. I try find a nice spot to sleep. First I went to area below the lobby, but it was to quiet there. I went to the check-in area. Several waiting chairs, no cushions. I slept there, leaning on my bags. Not the best sleeping position. They didn't turn off the light which is good. Some security guard walking around. I only saw several people sleeping in the way as me. One of them even brought a sleeping bag. Check-in counters open around 5. Fiumicino is a huge airport, consider travelling time. And make sure you read all the signs. They have a lot of nice stores inside. But their toilets are awful, not properly cleaned and smells bad.
Moscow Sheremetyevo - F Terminal 2 ..... toyotaboy95 February, 2010 A far cry from Hong Kong I was so unfortunate so to stay 3 hours in transit on Aeroflot (flag carrier) in this 'airport', a far cry from the standards of Hong Kong (my home airport). Smokers (staff, passengers) were everywhere, making breathing very difficult (much better in 'transit area' with less smokers) and lack of ventilation made it even worse. Annoying announcements every time a plane landed or for security (baggage police....) and ended with a loud bell 'dong'. Seating was actually quite comfortable with no armrests though a bit old.
Mexico City - Terminal 1 ..... JRichline March, 2010 no sleep for international travelers While traveling from Costa Rica to the USA we had a 12 hour layover in the Mexico City airport and thought it would be a good idea to sleep in the international terminal for a few hours. Bad idea...just as we are turning in for the night, a security guard tells us we have to leave and can't return til 4 am. We are ushered out to the public/check-in area where we don't consider it to be a good idea to try to sleep, we ended up on the 3rd floor outside American Airlines Baggage Service Office were so far only employees and the occasional lost passenger has wandered by. Not comfortable, but a few of us caught a few minutes of sleep. I'm posting this as I'm standing watch over our carry-ons (and obviously found some WiFi to 'borrow' so I'll update when this is over.
Tel Aviv - Ben Gurion Airport ..... sbarbell March, 2010 Be Patient, Be Calm, BE EARLY So I didn't spend the night, but those Flying out of Ben Gurion Should follow three simple rules Be Patient, Be Calm, BE EARLY. It's taken me hours to get through security and the check in process. The security staff are generally nice and professional. The security is so tight that they hand checked my luggage, I forgot to metion something in my luggage that others had gien to me. The item, travel brochures. I had a large number of them and they guessed correctly that some had been given to me. This may seem ridiculous, but think of how many people are afraid of travelling to Israel.
mumbai - Mumbai ..... nick1975in January, 2010 Best place to relax Amazing airport after 5 yrs of renovation hardly any waiting. no irritating staff.quick service and immgration
Salt Lake City - ..... Westzzzzz December, 2009 24 hour blaring CNN/Safety Warnings This was my first and probably last attempt at sleeping in this airport. MY flight was at 6:30 a.m. and I didn't want to get a hotel room nearby (50 for a few hours), so my friends suggested I sleep at the airport. I thought it would be a fun/cool new experience, but it turned out to be awful. They had CNN blaring 24/7, and after midnight ran the same 30 min. shows every hour, punctuated only by safety warnings about my luggage. CNN shows get really annoying about the third time around when it is 3:00 a.m.
Also, there was no comfortable sleeping arrangements anywhere. They had the typical chairs with metal armrests, and I tried to sleep on the floor but it was too hard. I tossed and turned and tried different arrangements with my bag, but to no avail. The saving grace was that there was free wifi, which kept me entertained, but no sleep to be had. Also I didn't get hassled by anyone, ...
Frankurt - ..... letitia February, 2010 24 hours almost a delight Missed my one-a-day flight and spent 24 hours wandering, snoozing and enjoying. The highlight for me was the full-fledged supermarket deep in the bowels of the lower levels (gives you a chance for a brisk walk). loaded up with variety, organic/bio and fresh choices. Everyone I asked for directions was helpful. Another high spot was the zurich insurance island of free internet, all Macs, just because and please no more than 20 minutes but if it's not busy no worries. the crinkly-eyed man handed out mints for the trip after asking me to sign the guestbook & put my name in for a free blackberry. Concourse C is the sleeper's choice with grey and black multiple seats lined up on each side without benefit of armrests-3 in a row and little tables at each end. also no ceiling and lights were missing on the window side. A & B have shops and no seating.

Munich - ..... stfp March, 2010 Very pleasant experience Slept for one night in the main area of Terminal 2 (Star Alliance). It's very large and has abundant seating; last flight leaves around 10pm and the first one in the morning is after 6am so for the whole night the airport is quiet; announcements like the boring one with abandoned luggage resume only at 5am.
Seating is abundant and there were plenty of seats available; the seats are padded, reasonably soft and confortable and most important have no armrests so they're perfect for sleeping. I've had a very nice night here, the only time I was awaken was by the cleaning team which used some loud vacuum cleaners. Noone from security asked me any questions and there were quite a few other travellers sleeping as well.
London - Gatwick ..... xyz February, 2010 A good 1st time experience of sleeping in an airport I had a early morning flight from Gatwick North terminal and I decided to pass the night on the airport. It was a good first time experience prompting me to do it again when I will be shortly visiting London next week.
Best tip: Head straight to arrivals area of south terminal & climb on the mezzanine/1st floor. There are good leathered seats there, a 24 hours internet shop, costa cafe (24 hrs) just infront, a general shop(books/magazines/snacks/coldrinks etc) which remains half open after 1:00 AM, toilets nearby, power outlets for charging ur laptop, and the connecting bus service for North terminal is also not far away (in case your flight is departing from North). What else could you ask for a free night's stay?
Katowice - Pyrzowice ..... takemeaway February, 2010 Nice place to wait for departure It's a very nice and safe place to spend a night. Pyrzowice airport is rather cosy, during night only handful of people are waiting for their friends and relatives to arrive and security is looking for your safety all the time walking nearby. We were sleeping on the view terrace (2nd floor) where you have to pay 1PLN to come in (changing machine is right by the entrance). There are many many 4-seat benches - 1 enough for 2 people to sleep. Two annoying issues are: the air conditioning which is rather noisy, but you can find few spots without the sounds; and the automatic lights which are turning on while somebody's walking and can easily wake you up. I really enjoyed sleeping on that airport and woke up really relaxed at 5am for awaited check-in to venice treviso :) oh, the toilets are clean, empty and free - right after the terrace pass.
